Presiding Bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church Blesses St. Thomas Community Garden

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori

St. Thomas Community Garden was blessed in a Rogation procession by the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori during her visit to the parish on Rogation Monday, 2008.

The Presiding Bishop joined St. Thomas rector, Rev. Stephen Waller, Rev. Christianne McKee, curate, St. Thomas parishioners, and Episcopalians and friends from both Dallas & Ft. Worth Dioceses in this traditional spring blessing service.

Bishop Katharine made a few comments after the service at a reception in the parish hall, then mingled among parishioners and visitors for over an hour before having to leave to catch a flight home. We are delighted and grateful for her gracious acceptance of our invitation.

Keep watching the Website for more pictures, videos and stories about this very special day in the life of our parish.

Garden Sign

"Hildegard of Bingen ... talks about greenness -- the explicit expression of God’s creative glory. You and I are meant to be partners in God’s glorious creative work. How are you going to be green, and heal this planet, and give glory to God?"

The Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori

Welcome to St. Thomas!

We hope you will find this site helpful and informative. If you have further questions or wish to contact the church, either use our Contact page, or feel free to browse the site at your leisure.

St. Thomas is located in Dallas, Texas, and is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. We currently have about 250 regular communicants. In 2000, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the parish’s founding. We enjoy a diverse community of young and old, families and single people, and different ethnic backgrounds. We seek to build our common life in Christ through shared worship, service, learning and teaching, and social activities.

St. ThomasOur patron, Thomas the Apostle, is also known as Thomas the Doubter because he would not believe the other apostles’ accounts of their encounters with the risen Christ until he had seen for himself. Christ did not rebuke Thomas for his questions and skepticism, but provided Thomas with the confirmation he needed and charged him to carry the gospel to others. In his spirit, the parish tries to engage questions, doubts and skepticism faithfully.
